The current deep tendon reflex examination is subjective; each clinician has developed their own "feel" for the appropriate amount of impact during the physical exam. The RFX Hammer was designed to improve the objectivity of the examination by quantification.
The RFX Hammer provides the clinician with confidence that their strikes are consistent and repeatable.

The RFX Hammer provides instantaneous feedback to the clinician at the bedside, empowering clinicians to complete the physical exam their way.
Our design is built upon the traditional Queen Square hammer. The LED indicators are on the bottom face of the device, and indicate increasing magnitudes of impact based on the number of lights that illuminate. The hammer is pre-calibrated to assess forces from 0 - 100 Newtons, and the results from each strike can be read from most angles.
